Melissa Marie Benoist was born on October 4, 1988. She is an American actress and singer. Melissa first started her acting career in the 2008 movie, Tennessee. She has also appeared on many television shows. In 2010, Melissa appeared in the CBS series The Good Wife. She portrayed the character Molly in 2×09, who was Cary Agos’ cousin. Melissa portrayed Marley Rose on the hit “FOX” show, Glee. Her first appearance is in the first episode of season four, The New Rachel. In 2011, she portrayed the character in the musical, The Unauthorized Autobiography of Samantha Brown.

In May 2012, Melissa auditioned in New York for Glee at the Roundabout Theatre Company. She sang different songs for each auditions, that includes: Fidelity by Regina Spektor, King of Anything by Sara Bareilles, a song by Colbie Caillat, and a few musical theater pieces.

Melissa appeared in the 2014 film, Whiplash, as Miles Teller’s character’s love interest in the film. In June 2014, Melissa was set to join in a Nicholas Sparks film adaption called The Longest Ride, as Marcia.

In early 2015, Melissa was set to portray the lead role of Kara Zor-El in the CBS series, Supergirl. It was announced in May 2015 that she would be portraying the role Lorelai in the film Lowriders. Melissa starred in the 2015 film, Danny Collins, which starred Al Pacino, Annette Bening and Jennifer Garner. Then in August 2015, it was announced that Melissa had the leading role in the Screen Gems film Oxford, with Sam Heughan as her co-star.
